The first phase of the expansion works has been completed, and by spring Balatonfői Yacht Club will be equipped with 81 new berths. The paving has already been completed and the floating pontoons are in the marina. The new berths will be available from April… Parallel to the expansion, the marina’s infrastructure and onshore facilities are also being significantly improved to meet the increased traffic demands.
In Balatonfői Yacht Club, one of the closest marinas to Budapest, 81 new berths have been created, which previously accommodated 91 boats. Development work began in the spring of 2021. The new breakwater has been completed and the floating piers are already in place in the marina. Currently, the piles are being installed and the infrastructure is being worked on. BFYC is both elegant and family-friendly and will welcome new tenants in April.
The new 4-5 metre wide berths have been designed to meet the needs of large boaters, not only in terms of berth size, but also in terms of overall infrastructure. Founded in 2001, the marina is also a stronghold for electric sailors, as it hosts the annual Green Ribbon Regatta and therefore welcomes not only sailboats but also e-boats. With this in mind, 2 x 16-amp chargers are available at 45 percent of the new sites (catering mainly to the needs of electric excursion boats on Lake Balaton) and 3 x 32-amp chargers at 5 percent. (The latter are suitable for any extreme power need.) And 50 percent of the sites provide 1 x 16-amp charging capacity, enough to meet every conceivable power need of a sailboat, including air conditioning.

Many of the new berths, with excellent wave protection, take advantage of the BFYC’s prime geographic location to offer great views of the eastern basin and are frost-free in winter thanks to water rotation technology, allowing tenants to enjoy a much longer season.
The expansion will be accompanied by a new food and entertainment centre, which will offer a unique atmosphere as it will be built right on the waterfront, with a great view of Lake Balaton.
The development is not limited to the construction of new berths, but a number of investments have been made on the coast to meet the increasing traffic demand, and some of them will be completed in the coming months. In the past, new parking spaces have been created so that the tenants of the new berths can park their cars in a civilised way in the marina. Currently, the restaurant terraces and the guesthouse are being renovated, and the beach is also being renewed, with a small plage, unique to Lake Balaton. In the autumn and winter months will also take place the renovation of the existing buildings and water blocks.
“With the improvements, we wanted to further enhance BFYC’s level of service while maintaining the family atmosphere that our tenants value. Accordingly, it was important for us to be able to offer high-quality common areas that clearly put the marina in the foreground and meet the needs of arriving sailors at the highest level,” said Anita Lénárt, the operations manager of Balatonfői Yacht Club.
